Science / project plan

By looking at the distribution, abundance and ecology of polar bears, the project aims to find out if the subsistence hunt of polar bears in East Greenland is sustainable, to provide management advice, in a time when the environment is changing. The methods include satellite tracking, collection of biological samples from live captures and from the subsistence harvest, aerial surveys, analysis of satellite images and modelling.

Based in Kuummiut, work in 2017 covers from Price Chsistian sund til Blosseville coast.
