Science / project plan

Each year around 50 common eider colonies are surveyed by five local monitoring teams in the area from Ilulissat to northern Upernavik (Nuussuaq).  This community-based monitoring program started in 2001 and along with a similar program in Southwest Greenland (started in 2014), this constitute the prime data source for documenting common eider population trends in West Greenland. App. every five years GINR conducts supplementary ground surveys in the same area and 2018 is such a year.
