Bear encounters - precautions in polar bear land
Invitation to an afternoon dedicated to polar bears and how to act when visiting their habitat.
• Senior scientist Jørgen Bojesen-Koefoed will go through GEUS’ guidelines for the use of firearms and other means of protection when carrying out fieldwork in Greenland
• Senior scientist Peter Alsen will give a talk about polar bear behavior ang give a practical demonstration of a GEUS polar bear alarm
• Senior scientists Morten Bjerager tells the story about the polar bear that had the polar bear alarm go off while in the tent having morning coffee
In connection with each talk/demonstration there will be time for questions and discussion.
The talk will be given in English or Danish according to the needs of the audience.

The event is free of charge and takes place in the Theodor Sorgenfrei Auditorium at GEUS.
